  20.                          BECOMING A HUB FOR SHADES 'N SHADOWS

  23.     There are three different types of Hub Positions that Shades 'n
  24.  Shadows offers:  Regional Hub, Area Hub, and Local Hub.  To become 
  25.  a hub, you must be able to meet the following basic requirements:
  26.  
  27.      (1) You must offer to the NetSysops (nodes) who call you
  28.          the ability to download Netmail at no cost.  This means
  29.          a node must not be required to pay any form of registra-
  30.          tion fee to pull S&S mail.
  31.  
  32.      (2) You must pull all of the Shades 'n Shadows conferences,
  33.          including games, and must make at least one call per
  34.          day to another designated hub or Mirrored Dragon's
  35.          Dream.
  36.  
  37.      (3) Must have the capabilities of either a 9600 baud modem or
  38.          a 14,400 baud modem to enable long-long distance callers the
  39.          most affordable costs in long distance rates.
  40.  
  41.      (4) Must be set up to allow for either QWK or Fido so that
  42.          the nodes have a way of pulling mail.
  43.  
  44.       Regional Hubs are designated by the Net Administrator.  To be a
  45.    regional hub, it is preferred that you have multi-node capabilities,
  46.    call direct to Mirrored Dragon's Dream at least once per day, and be
  47.    willing to pull down files sent to other bbs systems per requests in
  48.    the file administration area.
  49.      Hubs, plain and simple, are established for nodes to call direct
  50.    to the regional hubs, or Mirrored Dragon's Dream, to pull mail and
  51.    allow for disbursement.  They may or may not have file request
  52.    "allowability," but must carry all of the S&S conferences.
  53.       Mini-Hubs are allowed for those sysops banding together in a same
  54.    area code for the purpose of saving money.  A mini-hub is established
  55.    at the discretion of the Net Administrator.
  56.       All nodes must be approved prior to polling Shades 'n Shadows.
  57.    Nodes may request who they wish to call for mail per application and
  58.    the Hub will be notified as to approval.  
  59.       Once you have become a HUB, you may accept applications for the
  60.    net, but you must forward them either by file or Electronic Mail to
  61.    the net administrator for approval.  This must be done PRIOR to 
  62.    pulling mail.  The processing period normally will take one day from
  63.    receipt of application.
